Natalie understands it can be quite daunting commissioning a work, here’s a little insight into the process for you:
Briefing
This is the most crucial stage of the whole process, it’s where Natalie is going to get all the details to create the work. Firstly, size is really important. This is where we usually start. Natalie can help with determining what size will work for you if you are uncertain. If there’s a particular space in mind then images of this space are also helpful. Then of course subject matter and colour palette. Any references to other artworks (Natalie’s own or other) are important as well. Based off the information provided above Natalie will prepare a quote inclusive of painting and delivery.
The Business Stuff
Before commencing any works on the commission Natalie requires a payment of a non-refundable deposit. This may vary depending on the value of the commission, it is usually 50% of the total fee.
Painting of the work
Once the deposit is paid Natalie will produce a few small rough sketches of potential compositions, these will also indicate the intended colour palette. Once the direction is selected Natalie will proceed with the work. Please allow 6-8 weeks for the painting to be completed.
Final Artwork
Natalie will forward images of the artwork on the completion of the painting. The balance of the invoice is required prior to the release of the artwork. Additional services to the commission are available and can be organised by Natalie and supplied at an additional cost, such as framing.
