A more recent hobby of mine is exploring the Surf Coast, particularly around the Anglesea to Moggs Creek area, for native orchids in spring. There are so many species, around 80, to spot. I've only found a handful to date, they are incredibly hard to see! And some are very rare. Anyone going for a bush walk around the area would be walking past hundreds without realising. I think this is the appeal for me maybe? It feels like finding treasure when you see one you haven't seen before.
