Welcome to Watercolour is my beginners foundational course that sets you up for all future courses. It takes you through some really simple activities to get familiar with your materials and new skills, plus it's heaps of fun!

Once you've done Welcome to Watercolour, it's really a choose your own adventure! I suggest picking the topic that piques your interest the most. Whether it's colour theory and mixing (The Magic of Colour Mixing), exploring the power of layering (Lessons in Layering with Watercolour) or composition (Compose, Paint, Create Part 1 and Compose, Paint, Create Part 2)

I filmed them in the following order and if you are struggling to make your mind up this is the order I would do them in myself. Although every course stands alone, one can help inform the next.

This is a tough one! I think you have to make a judgement call. If you feel confident in your skills I would recommend jumping to The Magic of Colour Mixing or Lessons in Layering with Watercolour. If you want a refresher or are particularly interested in the way I paint I would suggest doing Welcome to Watercolour first. Reviewing and practicing foundational skills is something that is really important and you will see so much improvement in confidence and outcome when you practice regularly. 

Nope! I always say work with what you've got until it isn't working for you anymore. I'm not prescriptive with exact materials at all. Whether you've got a cheapy set or some primo stuff, we can make either work in these courses. We are all at different levels afterall.

Yes quality supplies make a difference, I am not denying that. However, investing in premium quality materials is not totally necessary at the very beginning of your watercolour journey. In fact, it can be a hindrance as you are reluctant to "use the good paper". I'd rather you tuck in and have a great time, worry free! 

So long as you've got paints, brushes, watercolour paper and a jar of water we can pretty much make it work. The second video in each course discusses materials, pros and cons etc. There's so much to learn and I love sharing my knowledge on the subject.

If you're anything like me, it's any excuse to make a trip to the art store - I just want to make sure you can make some informed decisions when you are there. So grab what you've got, let's get started and we can make adjustments as we go.

I have very consciously created each course to stand alone so there is not very much duplicated content ('cos, annoying!) Every module, every project is unique and highly researched and tested.

Isn't that always the way?! Don't worry for a second, your enrolment includes lifetime access.

The only *slightly* confusing thing is that your Teachable enrolment link does expire after 7 days. This does not mean your account wasn't successfully created! Head over to the Teachable log in page (via the Student Hub and Help Centre) and hit "Forgot Password". Reset your password and your online course will be ready and waiting for you.

You are automatically enrolled into your course once the purchase is complete. Enrolment is immediate*

Step 1: Check your email. You will receive a series of emails from myself as well as Teachable. Teachable is the website you will watch the videos on. Open the email titled "Redeem Your Copy of [Course Name]" and click on the Confirm Email button. If you can't find the email, please check your spam/junk/other folders, it sometimes gets caught up in there. If you did find it in the spam folder, do your future self a favour and move it into your inbox.

Step 2: This will take you to the Teachable website to complete setting up your account. Enter a password of your choice and click on the Continue button. *Please note I can not retrieve your password - if you forget it then you need to go to the Teachable log in page and click on Forgot Password.

Step 3: You're in! Click on the course thumbnail and you will have access to the whole curriculum. Bookmark this page as this is how you will continue accessing the course: https://natalie-martin.teachable.com/ You will also receive an email confirming you are successfully enrolled, "You are now enrolled in [Course Name]". The email has an Access Course button in it, this occasionally expires, so please click on the link provided above. Enjoy!

• If you purchased the course and painting kit bundle, your painting kit will be shipped to you as soon as possible. You will receive an Order Shipped email with tracking details.

• If you have been gifted the course with a painting kit instructions are included inside the box of how to enrol into your course.

• If you have purchased previous courses, additonal courses will be added to the same account - providing you check out with the same email address.

Teachable is the website where you'll find my online school. It's where you will log in and watch the online courses. When you enrol in one of my online courses your Teachable account is automatically created and you'll receive an email to confirm your account and set your password.

You can log in to your Teachable account via the Student Hub and Help Centre page or via the menu Workshops & Classes > Online Course Login.

Welcome to Watercolour is my first online course, suited to beginners. So I suggest starting here. From there you could complete the others in any particular order - whatever takes your fancy! They are all stand alone and not dependent on one another. Certain themes are going to appeal to some people and others not, go with your gut!

Yes! My beginners course Welcome to Watercolour although not created specifically for kids is young person friendly, I suggest from ages 8 and up. My intermediate courses The Magic of Colour Mixing and Lessons in Layering with Watercolour have a bit more technical content in them, so I would suggest from ages 10 and up. Compose, Paint, Create Parts 1 and 2 are a little more advanced again with more complex ideas.

If you have done an Intro to Watercolour in-person workshop with me there will be some cross-over between what we do in the class and what you'll see in Welcome to Watercolour. There's a few exra activities in the online course and you get to watch and rewatch as many times as you like - so it's a great little refresher if you've decided to explore watercolour further.

There are so many different ways to use this beautiful medium. Every teacher also conveys things in their own unique way and puts emphasis in different areas. If you enjoy the look of my style, I would recommend doing my beginners class first. I break my own personal process down into bite size pieces for you to enjoy.
