I've got a whole video in Compose, Paint, Create Part 2 dedicated to materials (I do LOVE talking about art supplies), however here are some suggestions so you can get the ball rolling right away. If you've found yourself here you've probably dabbled in a little bit of watercolour before - I encourage you to work with what you've got. No need for anything fancy or new, unless, you know, you're dying to go to the art store. If you're kit needs a freshen up, you can always pick up one of my Beginners Watercolour Painting Kits.
Here's a general list of basics to get you started.
• Watercolour paints
• Round brushes -
size 10 or 12 and 4 or 6
• Watercolour paper
• Pencil, eraser, scissors, metal ruler
• Two water jars
• Palette (an old plate will do)
• Paper towel or a rag
• Painter's masking tape
• Salt
• Surface to work on
• Computer, tablet or phone
