I'm so thrilled to bring you my first new series for 2024. It was a bit of a surprise one, definitely unplanned! But that is how these things go sometimes. I was simply so blown away by the beauty of the Larapuna / Bay of Fires area I couldn't resist painting up a storm.

We spent one glorious day in Binalong Bay during my recent Art Retreat with Artable Studios and that was enough to send the inspiration flying. I painted several pieces en plein air and took sketches, studies and photographs back to the studio to keep creating. The result? An 8 piece collection I'm dying to share with you!

First cab off the rank. This one didn't make the final cut, but I look at it fondly as in each and every new location I paint in there's a whole discovery process that has to happen. New shapes to represent, different light, a whole new colour palette to capture. It's an exciting step in the process.

Back in the studio playing with watercolour and Caran D'Ache Neocolor II. I like to paint my en plein air pieces on the Arches 300gsm cold-pressed blocks. They are a great size (this time I used a 26 x 36cm and a 31 x 41cm) and great to travel with.
