Watch out 2026, I have some big plans for you.

    A Tour? Tell us more

In 2026, my watercolour workshops are hitting the road! Kicking off in February, I’m embarking on a 12-month ‘Big Lap’ with my family—exploring our beautiful country and, of course, bringing my painting gear along to teach along the way!

Regional Aussies, I’ve got my sights set on you—I want to provide you with high quality, accessible workshops closer to home. I couldn't think of a better opportunity to teach, learn and paint together. Read on for how you can contribute and get involved.

    About Me

I'm Nat Martin, a watercolour artist and educator based on Wadawurrung Country / Surf Coast, Victoria. I stumbled into teaching watercolour nine years ago and never looked back! Since then, I've taught thousands of students through workshops, events, retreats, and online courses—travelling across Victoria and beyond to share the joy of creativity.

My teaching style is relaxed, encouraging and, most importantly, fun! My aim is to provide students with skills and confidence to inspire them beyond the workshop experience.

    How Will the Tour Work?

I'm still in the early stages of planning. At this stage I'm gathering Expressions of Interest from community members, art societies, regional galleries, local businesses, venues...basically anyone in a regional area that would be interested in participating in a watercolour workshop or bringing more arts events to their region.

Based on the contacts list and data collected I will identify key locations on our travels to provide workshops too. From there I will build a plan and start to organise and promote each workshop.

I will need your help! If you are a community member and have any venue suggestions please let me know or if you would like to volunteer and help me bring a workshop to your region this is also a possibility!

    Take Your Pick

I will have two different workshops on offer, both have broad appeal and have been thoroughly tried and tested.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Where will you be headed?

I’ll be doing a 'Big Lap', a road trip around Australia. We set off in February 2026 from Wadawaurrung Country / Surf Coast, Victoria and head up the East Coast and around anti-clockwise. I don’t have any fixed dates for the trip, I’ll be planning alongside our travels so the two can complement one another. I’m aiming to work 2-3 months in advance so there is plenty of time to arrange the workshop and let people know about it!

Unfortunately, we won’t be headed to Lutruwita / Tasmania this time. Keep an eye out for my Tasmanian retreats with Artable Studios though!

I want to do one of your workshops! How do I sign up?

I'm so thrilled you want to book a workshop with me! At this stage I'm taking Expressions of Interest for the 2026 Regional Australia Watercolour Tour. If you live in a regional town and would like me to bring a workshop to your region please submit an Expression of Interest. This is how I'm going to gauge when and where to visit! The more interest from your region, the more likely I will be able to make it happen and make the tour a big success!

In the meantime, check out my current available workshops here.

I’ve submitted an Expression of Interest, now what?

I’m currently gathering contacts, locations, venues so I can start formulating a plan. I aim to get back to all enquiries to confirm they’ve been received. I will reach out to communities 2-3 months in advance of our arrival to source a workshop location, set a date etc. Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to get to absolutely every location!

How will I find out if there is a workshop happening in my area?

Ensure you are signed up to my email newsletter! I will communicate all dates and travel through there and this is the most reliable source. I'll also be keeping my website up to date and sharing news on social media.

If you are really keen for me to bring a workshop to your area, make sure you submit a an Expression of Interest above.

How much will a workshop cost?

Each event will be ticketed and tickets will be available for purchase on my website once the workshop date is locked in.

I'm yet to set pricing in concrete. I’m working to bring reasonably priced, high-quality watercolour workshops to regional Australia and am in the process of seeking funding to help make this happen. Once this information firms up I will update this page.

    What makes a suitable venue?

The needs are different for each of the workshops on offer.

For the Intro to Watercolour class an indoor venue is best suited, or at least under cover. This could include (and is certainly not limited to) galleries, arts hubs or community arts spaces, town halls, club rooms, local businesses, artist studios. We will need tables and chairs and access to water, a kitchenette/kitchen is a bonus (for our morning tea of course).

If we are talking about a Watercolour En Plein Air session, this is all about being outdoors! Think botanic gardens, local bushland, riverside/beachside, private or business property. I will ensure all appropriate permits are in order. BYO Picnic rugs or camping stools/chairs will do the trick for seating.

    What about art materials?

I will provide all the art materials for each session plus a light morning/afternoon tea. I will also have table cloths to protect surfaces if need be.

I want to volunteer, what does that involve?

Thank you for the interest! Having a volunteer at each location is going to ensure a smooth workshop experience for everyone! They will be my local eyes and ears, this can involve anything from helping source a suitable venue, extra set of hands on the day, using local channels to promote the event, jumping on the bush telegraph etc. Volunteers will receive a complimentary ticket to the workshop.

How many people in each workshop?

My ideal number of participants is 12, I can stretch that to 15 in some cases, or if there is a lot of interest at one location I can always run two workshops. The minimum I'll have in a class is 8. These numbers are based on years of practice and ensure a balance of great atmosphere and quality time with each student.

    Do you take private bookings?

If you are a private group, say a community centre, club or an art society I'm happy to discuss a private booking. At this stage I won't be taking bookings for private individual classes while on tour.
