We'll start by getting to know our materials and how they interact with watercolour.
From there we'll gradually build confidence through playful exercises, colour exploration and a series of floral projects featuring peonies, yarrow and lilies.
Along the way I'll share the techniques, thought processes and creative exercises that have helped shape my own mixed media practice, including my favourite Goldilocks Effect exercise, designed to help you discover the balance that feels right for your own style.
By the end of the course you'll not only have a collection of finished artworks, you'll have a completely new way of approaching your painting.

Hi, I'm Natalie. I've spent years exploring the wonderful space where watercolour meets mixed media, experimenting with countless materials to discover what works, what doesn't and what creates that little bit of magic.
Teaching is one of my favourite parts of what I do, and this course brings together years of exploration into an approachable, encouraging experience that gives you the confidence to experiment without feeling overwhelmed.
Whether you've painted for years or you're just ready for your next creative step, I'll be right there painting alongside you.
One of the best things about mixed media is that there's no single "right" way to do it.
If you already have a collection of art supplies tucked away, there's a good chance you can start with what you've got. Throughout the course, I'll show you a range of materials I love using, along with simple alternatives, so you can experiment without feeling like you need to buy an entire art shop first.
