Well this is exciting! I've been selected as a finalist in the Palette Project, an art prize run by Gallery Alchemy - a beaut little gallery I've long admired in Milton, New South Wales. I'm truly chuffed that my work 'Rolling Down the Valley' was one of the 28 works selected.

 

First of all, how is is March already?! To say it's been a busy (dare I say hectic?!) start to the year is an understatement. I had a gradual return to work from mat leave at the end of last year, I eased back in with a few odd hours here and there - mostly painting for my solo show at Lon Retreat.

I did a thing! I filmed a little artist talk for you going into a little more detail about the thoughts and processes behind 'Finding My Way'. This show is the culmination of a residency at Lon Retreat in Point Lonsdale and I produced it in fairly extraordinary circumstances, have a watch and get a glimpse into my world.

Once again I am choosing to sit out the Black Friday sales. If you've been following along for a little while you'll know I never participate in them and I hope I never have to. I've always aimed been transparent about this and my position on sales as an artist and small business woman.

It's no big secret that it's been a really tough year for creatives and small businesses. In fact, it's been pretty tricky year-on-year for some time. Ouch. So I'm taking a quick moment to shout out some awesome creative people in my circles. I'm very lucky to have a diverse and very special community of creatives and makers around me. I'm hoping to do a little series of these "Creative Shout Out" blog posts to show off some of these awesome people.

 

'Finding My Way' is a new body of work, 20 watercolour and crayon paintings on paper and panel that I created during my residency at Lon Retreat. I couldn't be more excited to finally share these pieces with you, they've been a long time in the making.

I’m thrilled to have one of the pieces from my new series ‘The Secret Garden’ featured in the latest edition of Art Edit Magazine. ‘The Conservatory’ is sitting among some mighty fine company.

‘The Secret Garden’ collection is a colourful celebration of those precious curated spaces we call gardens and all the wonderful flowers that populate them. I saw a correlation between creating a garden and my own art practice. Both bring pleasure and joy. They require hard work, patience and curiosity, plus your hands are bound to get a little dirty.
