Here's a few little snappies from behind the scenes of the big shoot day! I film my online courses all in one day, basically from start to finish. The start of the day usually involves coffee and discussing with the team the approach for the day. Getting the lights set up just right takes a little while and then we are off! Not without our fair share of laughs, goof ups, tongue twisters, painting mistakes in the mix.

A lovely little write up in the Surf Coast Times last week. I was the fortunate recipient of a Sustaining Creative Workers Initiative grant from Regional Arts Victoria recently and was asked about how I was planning to utilise the grant. We also talked about my new online course The Magic of Colour Mixing!

Alongside the launch of my new online course I have collated some of my favourite painting tunes into a Spotify playlist for you all. Music to Make Art to spans the decades as well as genres, starting with a bit of soul, Motown and funk, then moving into a bit of pop and chill out too. I love to dance around as I paint, so this playlist will hopefully get your toe tapping and don't blame me if you burst out in song!

A huge $2200 was raised by mine and Maurice Cole's surfboard in Ocean Mind's 'Art Unleashed' fundraiser. With a total of $4000 collected by all three boards. I'm so blown away to the response to the boards and the money raised is going to help Ocean Mind run one of their incredible programs supporting young people experiencing disadvantage and social isolation.

I have had the pleasure of creating a one of a kind surfboard in collaboration with Maurice Cole Surfboards for Ocean Mind's Art Unleashed fundraiser. I am on of three artist/shaper partnerships to partake in the event. Each of the three boards are up for auction to raise money for Ocean Mind.

As a part of my solo show at The Stockroom Gallery in Clifton Hill (Melbourne, AUS) I painted a huge mural on the exterior of the gallery. I captured the whole process in time lapse! Was a surreal experience scaling my artwork up that big, especially in acrylic paint! Watch the video.

Pause. Soak up the moment and linger for a while. Pull the details into focus. Feel the light, the colours, the movement. Ground underfoot to distant dancing beams. Listen to the sweet sounds of the Australian bush. Allow the energy to ripple through you. Breathe.

Martinich&Carran invited me to exhibit with them at the Affordable Art Fair in Melbourne [insert terribly excited face here] alongside Rowena Martinich, Geoffrey Carran and Kathryn Junor. One small hiccup - the event opens the exact same day as my solo show!! Stress much?! Nevertheless, both are happening! The two shows are actually quite close to one another so you could make a day of it and visit both?

Pack your trail maps, gumboots and maybe a dinghy too, it’s the Surf Coast Arts Trail weekend! Never been to an Arts Trail, wondering what it even is? The Arts Trail is a weekend long event held on the 10-11 August where the artists and makers of the Surf Coast throw open their studio doors and invite the general public in (ie. YOU GUYS).

Here’s a few snaps of the opening night of Art Local at Ocean Grind. The turn out was huge and it was so amazing to see our local community support the event.

23 artists contributed work, with 56 works hung.

It takes more than a village to pull this kind of thing off, and an enormous amount of work behind the scenes. I couldn’t be happier with how it all came together, and hoping that this might just be the first of many.
